Our Story

Incorporated as Commercial Electrical in 1982, under the leadership of John Kelly, former Kilpatricks Divisional Manager, we undertook significant projects of the decade, including the Palmiet Power Station.

Throughout the nineties, John solidified our presence in critical infrastructure and IT, spearheading projects for prestigious clients such as Old Mutual, particularly during the crucial Y2K adaptations.

These endeavors marked our foray into the IT and data center realm. By the early 2000s, we had successfully executed projects for industry giants such as Neotel and T-Systems, solidifying our reputation as leaders in the field of data center construction and management nationwide.

As the decade drew to a close, we achieved milestones with pivotal projects. These included the comprehensive LIVE revamp of Cape Town International Airport’s Air Traffic Navigation System and spearheading the internationally acclaimed Meerkat project for the SKA Corporation. Situated in the expansive Karoo town of Carnavron, this project involved the installation and operationalization of the first 37 dishes looking into outer space.

By then John’s son James had joined the team and we had constructed our own office park in Somerset west where our headquarters are still located today.

As the digital landscape evolved, we encountered some of our most intriguing data center projects, particularly with the emergence of hosted cloud computing and the proliferation of shared data. Notably, our involvement in the City of Cape Town’s Broadband Infrastructure Project was significant. This initiative aimed to connect various city departments, fire stations, municipal buildings, and more into a vast wide area network. Over the course of eight years, we were deeply engaged in providing electrical infrastructure for containerized and brick and mortar data centres, contributing to the creation of over 50 data centers.

At this stage, we had firmly established ourselves as one of South Africa’s premier electrical contractors, evidenced by the timely completion of a large 12,000 Sqm Data Centre Phases 1 & 2 at breakneck speeds.

With John’s enduring philosophy of prioritizing service above all else, our company today comprises a young, dynamic team poised to guide the organization into the future.
